Chinese Patents do not automatically cover Macau Special Administrative Region. To seek local protection in Macau, Applicant should extend a Chinese application/patent to the Region. The extension can be carried out by one or two steps.

Solution I - One-Step Extension

Applicant may extend a Chinese patent, after its grant, to the Macau SAR to obtain a Macau Patent subject to document and time requirements.

Solution II - Two-Step Extension

Applicant may record a Chinese application when it is published to the Macau SAR as a first step, and then register the Chinese patent when it is granted to the Macau SAR as a second step.
